■  Sound should be felt, not seen. K-Array has built an entire philosophy around this single, profound idea.

In the world of high-performance residential and hospitality audio, a new standard has emerged — one that refuses to compromise between sonic excellence and architectural purity. K-Array, the Florentine audio engineering house rooted in the creative traditions of Tuscany, has redefined what a speaker can be. Ultra-thin, precision-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium, and capable of filling a room with breathtaking, cinema-grade sound without ever announcing their presence — K-Array speakers are, quite simply, the most architecturally sympathetic high-performance audio products available anywhere in the world today.

This document has been prepared specifically for architects, interior designers, luxury home developers, and home automation specialists who are seeking an audio solution worthy of the spaces they create. Inside, you will find a comprehensive overview of the K-Array product ecosystem, its installation philosophy, compatibility with leading amplifiers and AV receivers, care guidance, and the compelling commercial advantages it offers to both specifiers and integrators.

■  01  |  THE K-ARRAY STORY — ITALIAN CRAFT MEETS ENGINEERING MASTERY

Founded in 1990 in Fiesole, in the province of Florence, K-Array — then operating as HP Sound Equipment — began its journey developing precision pre-amplified microphones. By 2005, the company had relocated to Mugello, adopted the name K-Array, and set its sights on an altogether more ambitious mission: to revolutionise audio reproduction at every level.

Today, K-Array sits at the apex of the professional audio world. Its products are installed in landmark venues across more than 60 countries — from royal chapels and five-star hotel lobbies to super-yachts and the world's most exclusive private residences. The brand operates within the K-Group family of three complementary marques: K-ARRAY (professional and architectural installations), KGEAR (versatile professional products for integrators), and KSCAPE (residential and bespoke sensory environments). Each brand shares the same founding philosophy: compact design, exceptional sound, and seamless integration.

K-Array products are entirely engineered and manufactured in Italy, under the same rigorous artisan standards that have defined Florentine craftsmanship for centuries. Every speaker enclosure is precision-milled from solid blocks of aluminium — not cast, not pressed, but carved — and finished to exacting tolerances that place them firmly in the same aesthetic tier as luxury watches and fine jewellery.

■  02  |  PURE ARRAY TECHNOLOGY — THE SCIENCE OF INVISIBLE SOUND

At the heart of K-Array's performance is a proprietary engineering platform known as Pure Array Technology (PAT). Traditional point-source speakers radiate sound in spherical waves that diminish rapidly with distance and interact chaotically with room surfaces, producing colourations, comb-filtering, and uneven coverage. K-Array's PAT addresses this at a fundamental level.

By arranging multiple ultra-compact neodymium transducers in precise linear arrays within enclosures no deeper than 20mm, K-Array achieves true line-array behaviour even at miniaturised scales. The result is a speaker that projects sound in a controlled, cylindrical pattern — uniform coverage across a wide listening area, dramatically reduced room reflections, exceptional intelligibility at all frequencies, and an ability to throw sound over considerable distances without volume loss.

Key Technical Advantages of PAT

›     Phase coherence across the entire driver array, eliminating comb-filtering artefacts

›     Controlled vertical directivity (as narrow as 10°) prevents ceiling and floor reflections

›     Near-field and far-field performance are virtually identical — no 'sweet spot' dependency

›     Extraordinary SPL output relative to physical size, often exceeding 100dB peak

›     Significantly reduced distortion at high listening levels compared to single-driver designs

›     Uniform sound pressure across the entire listening area, from front row to back

This technology allows K-Array speakers to be installed in positions that conventional speakers could never occupy — flush within a window reveal, recessed into a 10mm ceiling slot, or adhered to the underside of a glass staircase — while still delivering reference-quality audio.

■  03  |  THE K-ARRAY PRODUCT UNIVERSE — A SPEAKER FOR EVERY ARCHITECTURAL INTENTION

K-Array's residential and commercial portfolio spans six principal speaker families, each optimised for a specific installation context and acoustic challenge. Understanding the character and capability of each line is essential to specifying the right system for any given project.

The Lyzard Series — Micro Line-Array for Intimate Spaces

The Lyzard is, without question, one of the most extraordinary audio products in the world. Machined from a single solid bar of aluminium, the Lyzard KZ14 measures just 10cm long, 2.2cm wide, and 1.1cm deep — smaller than a chocolate bar — and weighs 59 grams. Yet it houses four precision neodymium magnet transducers and delivers a peak SPL of 98dB with a frequency response from 500Hz to 18kHz.

The Lyzard KZ1, the smallest member of the family, is even more remarkable: 3.7cm long, 21 grams, and housing a single 0.5" long-excursion transducer capable of 86dB peak SPL with 140° coverage in both planes. These speakers are virtually invisible — they can be recessed into plasterboard walls, embedded in joinery, set within picture rails, or mounted beneath stair nosings. The recessed variants (KZ1R and KZ14R) arrive with spring-clip mounting systems for tool-free installation into pre-cut apertures.

Lyzard Finish Options:

›     Semi-matte black or elegant white — standard

›     Any RAL code — custom colour matching to architecture

›     Brushed or polished stainless steel — reflective, chameleon-like

›     24-carat gold-plated aluminium — the ultimate prestige finish for landmark projects

The Lyzard is the ideal solution for distributed background audio in luxury residences, hotel corridors, restaurant spaces, high-end retail, and museums. Pair with the Truffle or Rumble subwoofer series and a Kommander amplifier loaded with the dedicated Lyzard preset for a complete, full-range system.

The Vyper Series — Ultra-Flat Wall-Mounted Line Arrays

If the Lyzard is K-Array's masterpiece of miniaturisation, the Vyper is its statement piece. The Vyper range comprises the flattest speakers in the entire K-Array portfolio — housed in precision-milled aluminium frames just 20mm deep. The flagship Vyper KV52 II measures 50cm long and houses eight closely-spaced cone drivers delivering true line-array performance.

The Vyper's selectable impedance (16Ω or 64Ω) provides exceptional installation flexibility. At 64Ω, up to 16 Vyper KV52 II units can be driven from a single 4Ω amplifier channel — eliminating the need for 70V transformer lines in large distributed systems and preserving pristine signal quality throughout. When powered by a Kommander amplifier loaded with the Vyper-specific factory preset, the system delivers flawless full-range coverage when paired with a Rumble or Truffle subwoofer.

The Vyper is the defining choice for home theatre environments where the screen is an LED panel rather than a projection screen, as the speaker's ultra-slim profile allows it to be mounted directly within the bezel frame of the display — a solution famously deployed in the Samsung Luxury LED for Home home cinema package. A phantom centre channel can be created by time-aligning one unit above and one below the screen, solving the fundamental challenge of LED-panel home theatre audio.

As with all K-Array products, the Vyper is available in black, white, any RAL colour, and brushed or polished stainless steel, with marine-grade treatment available for coastal and superyacht installations.

The Domino Series — Full-Range Compact Point Source

The Domino series addresses environments where a self-contained full-range solution is preferred over a two-piece speaker-plus-subwoofer configuration. Comprising three models — KF26, KF210, and KF212 — the Domino family features coaxially mounted neodymium drivers with a passive radiator for extended bass response, in a compact stainless-steel enclosure.

The Domino's onboard passive crossover filter automatically optimises frequency and phase response, meaning the speaker can be driven directly from any professional amplifier without requiring custom DSP presets. The Domino KF26 can optionally be converted to an active, self-powered speaker by inserting the dedicated internal amplifier module — making it an exceptionally elegant solution for installations where rack space is at a premium. With a peak SPL of 115dB, the KF26 delivers impressive output in a deceptively small enclosure and was chosen for the acclaimed Luxury LED for Home cinema as the immersive surround and ceiling speaker — eight units providing 360° horizontal and elevation coverage.

The Kayman Series — Compact Premium Point Source

The Kayman KY102 is a compact, high-performance point-source speaker designed for premium AV and residential installations where a conventional speaker form factor is preferred but visual impact must still be minimised. Delivering professional performance with a minimal footprint, the Kayman is well-suited as a main channel speaker in smaller home theatres, private screening rooms, and dedicated listening spaces. Its controlled directivity pattern ensures an enveloping, consistent soundstage across the listening area.

The Anakonda Series — Bespoke Architectural Integration

The Anakonda series (KAN200 / KAN200+ / KAN200+8) is specifically conceived for situations where a conventional speaker cabinet simply cannot be used, but where professional intelligibility, architectural discretion, and absolute reliability are non-negotiable. Flexible, thin, and available in extended configurations, the Anakonda can be integrated into bespoke joinery, behind perforated panels, within floor-to-ceiling columns, or along the full length of a corridor — serving as an architectural element in its own right rather than a piece of equipment installed within one.

Rumble & Truffle — The Subwoofer Foundations

No K-Array mid-high speaker system is complete without the appropriate low-frequency foundation. The Rumble subwoofer range (KU26, KU210, KU212) delivers controlled, powerful bass from compact enclosures suitable for in-room placement, cabinet integration, or under-floor installation in custom builds. The Truffle series provides a more compact subwoofer option ideal for smaller rooms and distributed residential applications. Together, they complete the full audio bandwidth from sub-bass through to ultra-high frequency, enabling K-Array installations to reproduce the full dynamic range of cinematic and musical content with complete fidelity.

■  04  |  K-ARRAY IN THE HOME THEATRE — REDEFINING THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE

The home theatre represents the most demanding application in residential audio — a space where the listener expects not merely good sound, but a complete sensory immersion equivalent to the world's finest dedicated cinema venues. K-Array is uniquely equipped to deliver this, and it does so while solving problems that have long tormented home cinema designers and home automation specialists.

The Problem with Conventional Home Theatre Speakers

Traditional home theatre loudspeakers are large, visually dominant objects. Floor-standing towers, wall-mounted cabinets, and ceiling-mounted satellites require substantial structural preparation, compromise architectural lines, and are invariably visible in the finished room. In-ceiling and in-wall speakers, while less obtrusive, typically sacrifice significant acoustic performance — particularly in directivity control, bass extension, and dynamic headroom. The result, in most cases, is a room that has been visually compromised to accommodate audio equipment that still does not deliver true professional-grade performance.

The K-Array Home Theatre Solution

K-Array eliminates this dilemma entirely. A complete K-Array home theatre system occupies virtually no visual real estate whatsoever. The Vyper ultra-flat arrays can be set flush against side walls within a shadow gap or mounted within a recessed timber batten — invisible at typical viewing distance. Lyzard micro-speakers can be recessed into the ceiling, embedded in the back wall, or hidden within dedicated architectural reveals to serve as surround and height channels for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X immersive formats. Domino full-range units serve as ceiling-mounted height speakers with a profile small enough to disappear behind a satin-painted grille flush with the ceiling plane.

K-Array transforms the home theatre from a room full of equipment into a room full of sound.

Dolby Atmos & Immersive Audio Capability

K-Array systems are fully compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro-3D immersive audio formats. A typical luxury home theatre configuration might deploy: Vyper KV52 units as Left, Centre, and Right channels behind or flanking the screen; Domino KF26 or KF212 speakers as wide surround channels; Lyzard KZ14R ceiling-recessed speakers as overhead Atmos height layers; and Thunder or Rumble subwoofers for seismic bass reproduction. The result is a soundfield that completely envelops the listener — indistinguishable in quality from the finest dedicated cinema auditoriums in the world.

Lyzard Speakers: A Home Theatre Advantage in Detail

■  05  |  COMPATIBLE AMPLIFIERS — POWERING THE K-ARRAY ECOSYSTEM

K-Array's passive speaker ranges are designed to perform optimally when driven by amplifiers loaded with factory-configured DSP presets that have been precision-calibrated for each specific speaker model. While the Domino series can accept any professional amplifier (its onboard crossover renders DSP presets optional), all other K-Array speakers — Lyzard, Vyper, Kayman, and Anakonda — deliver their fullest potential when partnered with K-Array's own Kommander amplifier platform.

The Kommander Amplifier Series

The Kommander is K-Array's flagship amplifier line — a range of powerful, intelligent, multi-channel amplification platforms integrating Class D power modules with fully configurable DSP processors. Available in four-channel and eight-channel configurations, the Kommander series covers every residential installation from a compact two-channel stereo system to a complete 12-channel Atmos home theatre.

All Kommander amplifiers feature built-in DSP with equalization, routing matrix, delay compensation, and dynamic limiting — remotely configurable via the K-array Connect mobile app (iOS and Android) and K-framework3 professional software. Dante networking capability (standard or activatable via Dante Ready licensing) enables seamless integration into IP-based audio distribution architectures.

Compatible Third-Party AV Processors & Receivers

For home theatre applications where a dedicated AV processor handles immersive audio decoding (Dolby Atmos, DTS:X), the Kommander amplifiers receive the pre-processed analogue or AES/EBU signals from the processor and provide the final amplification stage. K-Array systems have been successfully integrated with the following premium AV processing platforms:

›     Trinnov Audio Altitude Series — The preferred pairing for the ultimate K-Array home theatre. Trinnov's proprietary room correction and 3D audio optimisation work in concert with K-Array's DSP to deliver an unparalleled listening environment.

›     Datasat RS Series — Professional-grade cinema processors widely used in high-end private screening rooms.

›     StormAudio ISP Series — Fully immersive audio processors with Dante networking support, ideal for complex K-Array installations.

›     Marantz AV10 / Anthem AVM 90 — For integrators specifying audiophile-grade AV preamplifiers to feed the Kommander amplifiers.

›     Control4, Crestron, Savant, AMX — K-Array's RS-232, Ethernet, and Dante interfaces enable complete integration with all major home automation and control platforms.

It is important to note that for K-Array passive speaker installations, an AV receiver's internal amplification is not utilised — the Kommander amplifiers perform all speaker-driving duties, while the AVR or processor provides only signal processing and decoding. The Kommander's input stage accepts standard balanced XLR signals, making it universally compatible with any professional-grade processor or preamplifier.

■  06  |  CABLE RECOMMENDATIONS — THE INTEGRITY OF THE SIGNAL CHAIN

A K-Array installation is a significant investment in acoustic excellence, and the quality and specification of the cable infrastructure must reflect this. The following guidelines represent best practice for K-Array residential installations.

Speaker Cable

K-Array passive speakers ship pre-terminated with 5 metres of proprietary ultra-thin speaker cable connected directly to the driver assembly. This cable terminates at a 2-pin Phoenix screw Euroblock connector at the amplifier end. For concealed in-wall runs extending beyond the supplied cable, the following specifications apply:

›     Lyzard and Vyper: Minimum 1.5mm² (14 AWG) oxygen-free copper, low-capacitance construction. For runs up to 30 metres, 2.5mm² (12 AWG) is recommended.

›     Domino and Kayman: Minimum 2.5mm² (12 AWG) OFC for all runs. For runs exceeding 20 metres, upgrade to 4mm² (10 AWG).

›     Subwoofers (Rumble / Truffle): 4mm² (10 AWG) OFC minimum. Low-impedance subwoofer runs should be kept as short as practicable.

›     Recommended brands: Van Damme Blue Series, Mogami W3082, Canare 4S6 — all specifically formulated for fixed installation and rated for in-wall use to BS/IEC fire standards.

Signal / Line-Level Cable

›     Balanced XLR interconnects from the AV processor or preamplifier to the Kommander amplifier — Neutrik XX series connectors recommended for all fixed terminations.

›     For longer signal runs (>10 metres): Mogami W2534 quad-core star-quad balanced cable — rejects induced interference superior to standard twin-core.

›     AES/EBU digital connections: 110Ω impedance-matched cable — Belden 1800F or equivalent.

Network & Control Cable

›     Dante audio networking: Cat6 or Cat6A shielded (STP/FTP) — Belden DataTwist 350 or equivalent. Avoid Cat5e for new installations.

›     RS-232 control: Low-capacitance shielded data cable — 3-core, Belden 9729 or equivalent.

›     Ethernet management: Cat6 STP to each Kommander amplifier for K-framework3 remote configuration.

■  07  |  INSTALLATION — PRECISION, SIMPLICITY, AND FLEXIBILITY

One of K-Array's most significant practical advantages — particularly for home automation companies and AV integrators — is the speed and simplicity of installation relative to the acoustic performance delivered. The engineering philosophy that drives the miniaturisation of the speakers extends equally to the design of the mounting systems.

Installation Methods by Product

›     Lyzard KZ14 / KZ1 (surface mount): The speaker ships with adhesive gel pads for immediate clean mounting on any flat surface, plus a drill-and-screw option for permanent fixing. The included drilling template makes positioning foolproof. Connection is via the pre-attached 5m cable — no additional termination required on the speaker end.

›     Lyzard KZ14R / KZ1R (recessed): A metallic spring-clip mechanism allows tool-free insertion into a pre-cut aperture matching the supplied drilling template. The magnetic grille snaps into position with a single motion and can be removed with the included neodymium magnet tool — no screwdriver, no visible fixings. Total on-site installation time per speaker: under three minutes.

›     Vyper (surface mount): A steel wall bracket provides permanent surface mounting with options for angled or vertical orientation. The IP65-rated connector plates allow outdoor-suitable terminations.

›     Domino (surface / pendant / bracket): Multiple mounting options accommodate ceiling, wall, or under-balcony positions. The speaker's onboard crossover means no DSP configuration is required if driven from a compatible amplifier.

System Configuration & Commissioning

Once speakers are physically installed and connected to the Kommander amplifiers, system configuration is performed remotely via the K-array Connect mobile app or K-framework3 software. The installer loads the factory preset for each connected speaker model — a process that takes minutes per zone — and the system automatically configures equalization, crossover points, time alignment, and dynamic protection optimised for that specific driver.

Room calibration using Trinnov or Dirac Live can be performed subsequently, with the system integrator using measurement microphones and the processor's proprietary algorithms to compensate for any remaining room-acoustic anomalies. The result is a system that is objectively measured and tuned to perform at its absolute peak in the specific acoustic environment — a level of performance assurance that no off-the-shelf speaker system can claim.

■  08  |  ARCHITECTURAL ELEVATION — SOUND AS A DESIGN STATEMENT

The finest architecture does not announce its infrastructure. Neither should its audio.

The introduction of K-Array into a project fundamentally changes the relationship between audio and architecture. Traditional speaker installations impose a design constraint — walls must accommodate brackets, ceilings must be penetrated by wide circular cut-outs, and room layouts must account for speaker positions that compromise sight lines or furnishing plans. K-Array dissolves all of these constraints.

Design Freedom Restored

Because K-Array speakers occupy virtually no visual space, the architect retains complete control over every surface in the room. A shadow gap between the wall and ceiling becomes an acoustic delivery point. A 10mm slot in a timber batten conceals a full-range line array. A 4cm × 11cm recess in a feature wall houses a complete ceiling-height speaker system. The architecture is not compromised — it is completed.

Material Integration

K-Array's comprehensive custom finish programme — encompassing any RAL colour code, premium brushed stainless steel, polished stainless, rose gold, antique gold, and 24-carat gold plating — means that speakers can be specified as finishing elements in their own right. In a marble-clad bathroom, a polished stainless Lyzard disappears against the fittings. In a bespoke walnut-panelled library, a RAL-matched Vyper becomes invisible against the joinery. In a statement foyer, a gold-plated Lyzard array becomes a jewellery-like detail that elevates the interior rather than interrupting it.

Property Value Contribution

The specification of K-Array in a luxury residential project is a demonstrable value-adding decision. High-net-worth buyers and lessees increasingly regard integrated audio as a core amenity rather than an optional extra, and the presence of an identifiable premium brand — installed invisibly and professionally commissioned — is a significant differentiator in competitive market positions. In prime residential markets across Mumbai, Dubai, London, and Singapore, professionally installed K-Array systems are recognised and sought after by discerning buyers who understand what they represent.

■  09  |  CARE, MAINTENANCE & LONGEVITY

K-Array products are designed and manufactured for the permanent installation environment — built to last decades, not years. The solid milled aluminium enclosures are virtually immune to the humidity, temperature cycling, and mechanical vibration that degrade conventional speaker cabinets over time. The neodymium magnet transducers are engineered with thermal management in mind, and the drivers are tested to withstand the stresses of long-term continuous operation.

Routine Care Guidelines

›     Surface cleaning: Wipe enclosures and grilles with a dry or lightly dampened microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive materials, solvents, or aerosol sprays in proximity to drivers.

›     Grille maintenance: The magnetic grilles of Lyzard and Vyper products can be removed without tools for inspection and cleaning. Light dusting with a soft brush is sufficient in most environments.

›     Amplifier ventilation: Ensure Kommander amplifiers have adequate ventilation clearance (minimum 1U free space above and below in rack installations). Operating temperature should be maintained below 35°C in the equipment room.

›     Cable inspections: During annual maintenance visits, inspect all visible cable terminations and Euroblock connections for security and signs of oxidation. Re-terminate any connections showing discolouration.

›     DSP presets: Maintain a backup of all Kommander DSP configurations using K-framework3. Following any firmware update, verify preset integrity before sign-off.

›     Marine and outdoor units: K-Array's marine-treated products require periodic inspection of connector sealing plates and stainless-steel hardware for signs of galvanic corrosion in extreme coastal environments. Annual inspection recommended.

Longevity Expectations

Under normal residential conditions, a correctly installed and maintained K-Array system should provide 20+ years of service without component replacement. The modular nature of the Kommander amplifier platform — with field-replaceable DSP and power modules — ensures that the amplification infrastructure can be updated or upgraded independently of the speaker installation as technology evolves. K-Array's five-year warranty and worldwide distributor network provide the assurance of professional support for the life of the installation.

■  10  |  THE BUSINESS CASE — ADVANTAGES FOR ARCHITECTS & AUTOMATION COMPANIES
