Setting up your Genelec G Series speakers correctly can transform your listening experience. These speakers are designed for precision and clarity, but to get the best sound, you need to place and configure them carefully. This guide walks you through the essential steps to set up your Genelec G Series speakers so you can enjoy their full potential.

Choosing the Right Location

The first step is selecting the best spot for your speakers. Genelec G Series speakers perform best when placed in a room with controlled acoustics and minimal reflective surfaces.

  • Distance from walls: Keep the speakers at least 30 cm (12 inches) away from walls to reduce bass buildup and reflections.

  • Height: Position the speakers so the tweeters are at ear level when you are seated in your listening position.

  • Symmetry: Place the speakers symmetrically in the room to maintain a balanced stereo image.

  • Listening position: Your ears should form an equilateral triangle with the two speakers. This means the distance between the speakers should be the same as the distance from each speaker to your listening spot.

Avoid placing the speakers in corners or behind furniture, as this can cause uneven sound distribution.

Connecting Your Genelec G2 Speakers

Genelec G Series speakers typically use balanced XLR or TRS inputs for the best audio quality. Follow these tips for proper connection:

  • Use quality cables: Invest in good-quality balanced cables to minimize noise and interference.

  • Match input and output levels: Ensure your audio interface or mixer output matches the input sensitivity of the speakers.

  • Power supply: Connect the speakers to a stable power source. Avoid power strips that also serve high-draw appliances to reduce electrical noise.

Maintaining Your Genelec G2 Speakers

Proper care extends the life and performance of your speakers.

  • Keep them clean: Dust the speakers regularly with a soft cloth. Avoid using liquids or harsh chemicals.

  • Check connections: Periodically inspect cables and connectors for wear or damage.

  • Avoid extreme conditions: Keep speakers away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures.

Regular maintenance ensures consistent sound quality and reliability.
